I was born in Chelmsford and lived in Essex until I was 18, so this is home turf.
I photograph weddings across the county: Colchester, Chelmsford, Braintree, Southend, Maldon, Harlow, and the villages around Dedham Vale. Barns, village halls, back gardens, function rooms above pubs. What the venue looks like matters a lot less to me than what happens inside it.
How I work
I document, I don't direct. No "stand like this", no posing, no cheese.
I'm after the honest moments between you and your favourite people, not the performance.
Most people forget I'm there within an hour, which is the whole point.
If you'd rather live your wedding than pose your way through it, we'll get on.
Essex has some of the most varied wedding venues in the country, and I'm glad to photograph in any of them. I'm just as glad in a village hall, a registry office, or a field with a marquee in the corner. Does that include your back garden, you might ask. It absolutely does.
What I like about photographing here is the light: the flat estuary skies, the woods around Dedham, and that particular grey-gold of an Essex afternoon in October.

Nothing, that's the point. I don't pose people. I just document what's happening. The less you think about the camera, the better the photos. Most of my couples say they forgot I was there. But if you’re still anxious, I have some tips and tricks.
